Tattoo Aftercare

Aftercare for your tattoo is as vital as any other step in the process of getting a new tattoo. As a tattooer, I can do everything I can to ensure a smooth and enjoyable tattoo experience, but after you leave the shop it's kind of on you to make sure you do your part to heal your tattoo with care...

Tattoo Aftercare Instructions.

Keep the wrap on for 1-3 hours.

Wash your tattoo with clear antibacterial soap or Dial Gold liquid soap to ensure you get all the goopy ointment off.
It's okay to go the first 24 hours or so without putting anything extra on it, like lotion or moisturizers. In the first couple of day after getting tattooed, ou kind of want to let it breathe as your body will be naturally sending fluids to the tattooed area on your body.

Wash it regularly(2-3 times a day), by gently lathering the tattoo and rinsing in in fresh running water if you can and then pat it dry with a fresh paper towel. Avoid using any bath towels, as they are more likely to cause bacteria or fibers to stick to your new tattoo. Then, let your tattoo air dry after that for a good 20-30 minutes before apply any lotions, that way water doesn't get trapped and suffocated when applying lotion.

Then, apply a thin amount of non-scented, non-medicated lotion to the tattoo. Massage the lotion in gently. If the tattoo looks greasy or shiny after applying lotion, pat of the excess lotion with a fresh paper towel and massage the rest in.

Do not apply lotion unless that tattoo has been washed and dried.

Avoid soaking your tattoo in still waters. This includes bathtubs and dish water as well as swimming in lakes, rivers, or ponds until your tattoo is completely healed.

Your tattoo will scab and peel like any other open wound. Be patient and let your body heal itself. Do not pick at any scabs or peeling skin.
